Having the right tool for the right job prevents tearing something up that is old and parts are hard to find. Thanks Crowley Marine!5/5(37). Sep 15, Messages. 1, Oct 28, #9. Re: Removal Tool For Shift Rod Bushing.

I think the idea of the tap is to create about 3 threads (5/16") and then thread a 5/16" bolt into it. At this point you can just pull on the bolt or tap it out from the underside with a 1/4" diameter rod up against this treefelling.buzzted Reading Time: 7 mins.

Feb 20, Re: shift rod seal replacement I use a long, slightly tapered punch to do it. Special Tool # is the real tool, and I think it's basically a rod slightly larger than the hole in the bushing, with the tip turned down a bit so it fits inside the bushing to index the tool.

The bushing takes a good whack to get out, but it is reusable. Water Pump Kit Reference Chart: treefelling.buzz Seal Kit Chart: treefelling.buzz
